Rolawn’s renowned Medallion turf has been laid in the spectacular new landscape garden which envelopes the new Glasshouse and lake at RHS Garden Wisley.
The Glasshouse, officially opened in June by HM The Queen, who is patron of the RHS has been built as a result of the RHS’s biggest fund raising appeal to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the RHS.
The impressive landscape setting, designed by award winning designer Tom Stuart-Smith has been created to enhance the horticultural experience. The main pattern or geometry begins at The Glasshouse entrance, from where, Tom says, a series of parallel paths gradually curve and intersect to create a pattern of planting beds and lawns that begin as simple rectangles and then develop into a series of interlocking sickle shapes.
Due to the large expanses to be turfed and the intricate curves in the design, specialist contractor Southdown Landscapes of Surrey laid large format 13m2 rolls using Rolawn’s Turfmaster System.
Cedric McMillan, Rolawn’s Sales & Marketing Director commented “Rolawn have been involved with the RHS for a number of years and were delighted to assist with this spectacular project. The Glasshouse is breathtaking and the geometry effect of the lawned gardens is stunning.”
